Garden Update

Okay. This was my very first garden and I was so excited...until my hopes and dreams were squashed under the reality of my life-giving ignorance.

So here's what FAILED:
~Cilantro
~Spinach
~Peas
~Jalapenos
~Zucchini

Here's what actually WORKED:
~Yellow Squash (I had waaaay too much of this...especially for not liking squash at all)
~Tomatoes

The tomatoes are green but still growing. Here's what makes all this mess worth it:


And today Lily's at day care and I am cleaning my house and doing laundry. I'm about 2 weeks behind on both.

WE CAN DO THIS!!

Lily has been so great through all of this. I can tell it's been hard at times -- there's been a lot of acting out, crying for Daddy (when I'm with her)/Crying for Mommy (when he's with her), etc.
Some days I just have to accept that I don't feel well enough to be a great mom right now. We watch a lot of movies. I try to keep activities planned, invite friends over, etc. but we still have hard days. I owe her BIG TIME for this--and love her so much for sticking by me.

Nasty

Today I cleaned my bathroom for the first time in a month. I'm not joking. It has been my goal every day for the last week. I try to set one reasonable goal each day, but this one has seemed so daunting.
So here's a toast to disgustingness -- I didn't die from it this month.

Swim Party!

We had Lily's cute friend Ethan over last week so "us moms" could talk crafting and marriage. They had so much fun in the water! Ethan was a dare devil, and well...Lily was grouchy most of the time.







(YES, for those who remember this post, these are the two little stinkers that were grumps during their preschool program!!)

Latest Craft: Necklace Holder

You'd think with all this spare time I've got on my hands I would be more productive. Honestly, I'm lucky if I make dinner and pick up toys. Forget scrubbing the showers, washing the sheets, etc. (I know...DISGUSTING).

BUT I did get to finish a project from a while ago. I took some old wall art:


I Mod Podged some fabric and made a few fabric flowers, screwed on some hooks:


And here is the final result (I love it!):

All The Single Ladies!

Lily is hilarious...she watches this music video about 20 times in a row, several times a day. She likes to put on a leotard and dance just like Beyonce. She cracks me up!



Oh, and here is a candid photo of me to update you on my hair length.
Can I get it in a ponytail yet? HA.
Can I put a bobby pin in it yet? DREAM ON.
Can I even put gel in it to push down the spikes? NO WAY.
Still growin, I guess. :)

Fun Family Bike Ride

...And by "family" bike ride, I mean Lily riding and the rest of us walking. Is it weird that Dan and I don't have bikes? It's mostly because we've lived in an apartment for the last 4 years. I'd love to get one. I'll put it on my to-do list.

Happy Weekend

I am SOOOO looking forward to spending the weekend with Lily and Dan! Doesn't it seem like Mondays are the hardest, then every day gets better until Saturday??

Our plans?

1. Sleep out on the tramp (and get eaten alive by mosquitoes!)
2. Get a lot of errands done (since I can't drive)
3. Go swimming
4. Sunday - sleep through church and not feel guilty about it
5. And just have fun spending time together! I can't wait.

The Absolute Best

Second only to Dan, this woman is the reason my recovery has gone so well. From foot rubs in the hospital to helping me get a walker and shower bench, AND making me dinner twice a week for the past month, setting up a month's worth of meals, taking Lily to play, checking on my daily, and taking me out for grown-up time. PLUS being a mother of 3 and working full-time, I frankly don't know how she does it. Her spirit and positive attitude always lift me up and make me remember the things I always forget. I love you, Mindy!

ALMOST a Grown-Up

Dan's mom was here last week to help take care of Lily, so that means we've used up our natural resources! :) It was SO GREAT to have our moms here to help during my recovery. I've still got a ways to go until I'm up to being a full-time mom again, but I am grateful for all the help we have.
