Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone has a fun, safe Halloween without going overboard on the candy! :) We're taking Lily trick-or-treating, and since she's 2 this Halloween, she gets to keep 2 pieces of candy.

Mean, you say?! Utterly Cruel??!!

Well, call me when your kids have cavities.
Have a great weekend!

Lily Lately

I love being the mom of a girl. I wouldn't have it any other way! Last night we painted her nails for Halloween, and she thought they were very "spooky!"

She also got a little hair trim and looks super cute with her new hairdo.

Upcycled Ruffle Shirt

I saved another shirt from the endless torment endured while in the back of my closet. I cut a new neckline and added a flowery ruffle, inspired by this.

Now this shirt will definitely get more action!!

One Yellow Balloon

Lily is so cute. I just love hanging out with her. Especially outside...WHILE WE STILL CAN!

Checking out our neighbor's scarecrow...is this guy real or not?!

Upcycled Crayons

Does your child break his/her crayons, then refuse to color with them? [Gasp!] Well, here is a simple (and fun) solution: Upcycled Toddler Crayons! There is a full tutorial in the DIY section of a great blog, Say Yes! to Hoboken. Check it out.
Here is how ours turned out:

Are they so cute or what?! Now Lily's discarded bottoms and tops are fun, multi-colored crayons!

Healthy Lunches On-The-Go

Lily and I eat lunch in the car every single day during my delivery job. So do we have to get creative? YES! And after 2 years, I think we finally have!
Basically, I've learned that just because we're eating on the go doesn't mean our food has to be fast. We eat a normal, home-cooked, healthy meal, just not at the table. Here are a few lunches I've packed for Lily recently:

Items include: Fresh fruit, cheese, applesauce, chicken & brown rice, granola bars, milk, yogurt, turkey dogs, veggie pancakes w/ jelly, and some treats.
I basically pack the same thing for myself, and it works out great!

Uncle Zach

My brother Zach was here this weekend, and Lily thinks he is sooo cool! She even wanted to wear her hat like his. Great to see you, Zacho!

(Supposedly) Hideous

I love it, but what do you think? This outfit was not a hit at a recent family party.

Regardless, I'm letting everyone know about the Bijou Market coming up. See you there!

I tried it out for myself and it was SO EASY! (~and cute~)

Exercise

Okay, I don't do any of that, BUTTTT...Lily and I were having fun the other night running around to music and kicking our legs. She is so funny!

Treasure

I bought a cute little frame from DI, but the real treasure was the wallet-sized photograph inside. It's the original photo, dated 1929. The back reads:
Theresa Koller
Catherine Besnecki
Marlie Johnson on 36th St
1929
I am so lucky to have found this!

Appliques

What an easy way to UPCYCLE old shirts gathering dust in the back of your closet!!

What A View

It's times like these I wish I could use a camera. The view from the window in my kitchen really IS beautiful...I hope you can imagine that from this picture.

Fun With Dad

I am so grateful Lily has Dan! There are some things only a DAD would teach his daughter. For example: The fact that you can rub a balloon on your hair to make static electricity and have it stick to the ceiling.

And here is an adorable sticker that Dan put on Lily's back. She obviously thought it was pretty cool.

Learning Lots!

Lily is having so much fun in French Preschool and learning so much! We're also practicing at home. Here are some easy ways to keep learning throughout the day:

Here's a picture we traced of Lily while learning about body parts:

See the resemblance??
And here's Lily coloring:

FP Stencils: Part 3 of 3

I just LOVE how these turned out! And I'm itching to make more...
